Holy crap! It’s gonna snow 1 inch in Asheville, but 10 inches in other really high places

Asheville hasn’t recorded more than a trace of snowfall in about two years, so the news today that a winter storm is brewing has people already freaking out about the possibility of a couple of inches of snow Tuesday night and Wednesday. Which isn’t really new for us here, but still. By Monday afternoon, forecasters were revising downward the snow totals for the Asheville area to about 1 inch.

Ray’s Weather is calling for snow showers and flurries for Asheville. He’s saying the big snow will fall along the North Carolina/ Tennessee state line. He’ll publish an accumulation map Tuesday.

The National Weather Service says a couple of inches of snow in the valleys, with 6 or 8 inches of snow on the NC/Tenn. ridgelines.

We’ll see what happens. In the meantime, lay in that bread, milk, beer and whiskey.

I will believe it when I see it. Right now it’s a pretty wet snow.
