We all know by now that the big, official Warren Haynes Christmas Jam is on hiatus this year, with plans to bring it back in 2020. But plenty of Jam-related events will go on, including shows scheduled at The Orange Peel and Jack of the Wood.

Here’s a look:

-Word on the street is that a Dec. 13 show at The Orange Peel is in the works. This has been the Pre-Jam concert in past years, a show that’s hosted by the WNCW radio station crew. It usually features some of the performers who play the official Jam the next night. Stay tuned for more details coming soon on this.

-Songwriter Jam: Asheville musician Leigh Glass has announced that a two-day event called the Kevn Kinny Songwriter Jam will be held at Jack of the Wood this year. (In past years, this has been known as the Jam By Day). Kinney is a well-known singer-songwriter, guitarist and member of Drivin N Cryin and a past Christmas Jam guest. The Songwriter Jam, set for Dec. 13 and 14, will feature a full slate of local musicians, from Laura Blackley, Marisa Blake and Dulci Ellenberger to Andrew Scotchie, Morgan Greer, Kevin Fuller and many more.

– Habitat house dedication: The Habitat house dedication ceremony, known as the “Before the Jam, Lend a Hand” event, will happen this year, according to organizers. Check the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity website for details on how to volunteer and/or attend.

– Christmas Jam pop-up shop: A pop-up store will open at BeLoved in downtown Asheville, featuring rare Christmas Jam memorabilia, unique photographs, Christmas Jam music and DVDs, and more, according to Jam organizers. BeLoved is a local nonprofit that works to end homelessness. The pop-up shop will be located at 10 N. Market Street, Suite 200. The Warren Haynes charitable group, the W&S Charitable Foundation, will donate all net proceeds from the store to BeLoved. Check the BeLoved website for more details to come.

– Drink a beer: The Christmas Jam Session Ale was made in partnership with Sierra Nevada Brewing this year and can be found at Sierra Nevada taprooms and throughout the Asheville area while supplies last. The W&S Charitable Foundation will donate the net profits to the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity.
