Press release here:

The public is invited to spend a beautiful fall evening having fun for a great cause at “A Masquerade Evening” with The Arc of Buncombe County and BB&T.

Guests are encouraged to wear a mask or a costume (a prize will be given for the best!) to the event, scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at Magnolia’s in downtown Asheville.

Dinner and beverages will be provided (all you can eat and drink!) and guests will have a chance to win a 2012 Ford Fiesta (or cash value of the car).

BB&T is the presenting sponsor for “A Masquerade Evening,” which supports the work and mission of The Arc of Buncombe County of empowering individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The local branch of The Arc was started in 1957 by a group of compassionate volunteers concerned with the lack of programs and outreach for children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

The Arc achieves its mission by helping clients and families realize their highest potential through advocacy, education, programming and family support.

“I’m very honored to carry out The Arc’s mission and to work each day with colleagues and clients who make such a positive impact on our community,” Arc Executive Director Terry Bellamy said. “I’m also grateful to our supporters and partners who have worked to make this ball an amazing success – and the best fundraiser of the fall season.”

“A Masquerade Evening” will also feature Asheville’s own powerhouse singer-songwriter Kat Williams, an aficionada of jazz, blues, gospel, rock, pop, R&B and the Motown Sound.
