Comedy: Tom Simmons at The Millroom in Asheville on May 9

On Friday, May 9, a favorite on the national comedy circuit, Tom Simmons is set to perform two shows at 8 p.m.  10 p.m. in downtown Asheville at Asheville Brewing Company’s The Millroom as part of Funny Business’ monthly comedy series.

Tom Simmons was born in NY and raised in Atlanta, GA. He is married to the love of his life, Serena, for more than a decade. Together, they have a son named Owen. Before Owen’s birth in 2004, Tom and Serena toured the continent in their RV, devoted to perfecting Tom’s stage act and putting their relationship to the test. The Simmons now live in Greensboro, NC, the “epicenter of comedy,” as Tom describes it with a huge grin. In 2009, Tom won the San Francisco International Comedy Competition. He is a two time finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival and has performed at the Montreal Just for Laughs International Comedy Festival. He’s appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Goth, Showtime, BET’s Comic View, Bounce TV and Comedy.TV.

Opening for Tom is Caleb Synan from Atlanta, GA. Caleb Synan’s act is a rare blend of Southern charm and razor sharp wit. As a homeschooled preacher’s kid who lives in Atlanta, his unique and hilarious perspective of the South, his parents, and the world at large is both smart and relatable. Caleb has worked with the likes of Donnell Rawlings, Brian Posehn, Joe Rogen, and Todd Glass. Local comedian Cary Goff will host both shows.

Buying tickets in advanced is highly-recommended and can be done so by visiting Free parking is available across the street from The Millroom at 66 Asheland Avenue after 6pm. Food and beer will be available.
