Campaign finance reports due this week will offer the first look at the fundraising efforts of Asheville City Council candidates running for office this year. The deadline is Friday for candidates to file the reports to the Buncombe County Election Services office.

Two candidates have already filed: Rich Lee and Lindsey Simerly. The two are joined by 14 other candidates in one of the most crowded City Council fields in a decade. The other candidates are: Corey Atkins, Joe Grady, Brian Haynes, Carl Mumpower, Marc Hunt, Keith Young, Julie Mayfield, Dee Williams, Grant Millan, John P. Miall, Richard Liston, Ken Michalove, Lavonda Nicole Payne, and Holly P. Shriner.)

Lee showed total receipts of $9,341 for the reporting period, which started Feb. 6 and went through June 30. That’s a strong showing for a first time candidate. Lee’s total expenditures for the reporting period were $7,201. Contributors include current Asheville City Councilman Cecil Bothwell and Robert Patterson of Seniors Helping Seniors.

Simerly recorded $5,449 for the reporting period and total expenditures of $936. Contributions came from current Asheville City Council members Gordon Smith and Chris Pelly, N.C. Sen. Terry Van Duyn and Parker Sloan of Pisgah Legal Services.

Marc Hunt had $22,288 in receipts for the period.

Julie Mayfield had $17,741 in receipts.

More as the reports come in.

I don’t know if he’ll be able to serve but, can we write in Wainscott’s name on the ballot? There’s something in the law about a felon being ineligible.

Leave the poor guy alone for cripe sake. Continuing to dance on the guy’s head while he’s down is disgusting behavior even for you.

I just ask questions for the common good. You? You talk about me.

Jonathan Wainscott surfaces, homeless and broke.

“I am out of jail on a $14,000 bond release. Ten thousand of that bond was due to a charge of felony breaking and entering with intent to terrorize. I was charged by the State of North Carolina for breaking and entering into my own home (false imprisonment). I am now homeless because the State of North Carolina has restricted me from going to my house. I am now unemployed because the State of North Carolina has prohibited me from returning to my self-employment operations (my design studio and tools storage at my house).”

What is your g-d problem, Mouthpiece? Wainscott has done ample to f*ck up his own life, and you’re still internet-stalking him? Creepy as f*ck.
