Backpacker.com has the news, and the Citizen-Times had it first.
If you’ve emerged from a multi-week trek through Great Smokies National Park into the gateway town of Asheville, NC, I can think of two things that’ll instantly take you from grizzle to sizzle: a beer and a haircut. Lucky for you, The Blue Ribbon salon just opened in Asheville, and they offer inexpensive tonsorial work and a free namesake beer for every haircut.
Owner Beth Adams wanted to create a cooler, laid-back salon with big-city styling skill but down-home drinking values. Both men and women’s cuts come in at sub-$30 prices, and include (as if you needed reminding) an ice-cold Pabst Blue Ribbon. Adams also offers a 10 percent discount to customers who ride their bike to their appointment.
From the Citizen-Times:
“You’d be surprised. Seven out of 10 people of age take a PBR when offered,” Adams said. “We’re not getting people drunk in here. I want people to walk in and feel relaxed and that they can hang out. They can sit at the bar and play cards or read magazines.”

Interesting idea, but how do they keep the hair out of the beer? And at $30 a cut I could by a whole case with the money left over from what my barber charges.
