Author Hirshberg will talk about how entrepreneurs can balance family and work

Press release here:

Meg Cadoux Hirshberg, author of “For Better or For Work: A Survival Guide for Entrepreneurs and Their Families,” will speak about balancing family life and a family business, at the next meeting of UNC Asheville’s Family Business Forum. This event begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in UNC Asheville’s Sherrill Center, Mountain View Room. Admission is $25; free for Family Business Forum members and UNC Asheville students.

Hirshberg, who married Stonyfield Farms co-founder and Chairman Gary Hishberg, worked in sales and yogurt production at Stonyfield for many years, as the now-flourishing company struggled to reach profitability. Hirshberg is now contributing editor for Inc. Magazine, and writes about the struggle to balance work and family in her regular column, “Balancing Acts.”

Hirshberg’s “For Better or For Work,” has won the acclaim of family business people, including Jeff Swartz, former president and CEO of Timberland. “Meg has been first mate on an entrepreneurial voyage for most of her adult life… She distills her experiences and the gentle wisdom gained from them to readers on their own entrepreneurial journey.”

Hirshberg’s October 19 talk will provide an opportunity for discussion and wisdom-sharing with members of the Family Business Forum, the area’s only ongoing professional development and awareness-raising environment specifically designed for family owned and closely held businesses. The event is also open to the public, with $25 admission, including continental breakfast. RSVP is required, at 828/232-5091 or
