Ashvegas Hot Sheet: Word on the street is that Tastee Diner has been sold

Share

Some of what’s going around:

Word on the street: The Tastee Diner on Haywood Road has been sold. In a February Asheville Citizen-Times story, reporter Dale Neal wrote that current owner David Hinson took over the Tastee in 1999. The restaurant opened in 1946. Hinson’s day at Tastee starts at 2 a.m., and its not something the guy wants to do forever, Neal reported, though there was no mention in the story of selling:

At 56, Hinson doesn’t plan to work forever himself. He does want to see the Tastee Diner continue. “I can see this place in business for 100 years.”

“Ingles is moving forward with replacing store 31”

In a recent note from Giraffe:

“Is this the same Ingles that got a zoning variance after Walmart was forced to withdraw its application for one and then moved to Airport Road outside of Asheville, only to be later annexed into the city?”
