-The city of Asheville has hired Dana Frankel as the City of Asheville’s new Downtown Development Specialist. The city says that she “will provide a high level of coordination needed between city departments and downtown stakeholders. She will also serve as the staff liaison for the Downtown Commission. Her office is on the fifth floor of City Hall.” Also, Dana Frankel is the sister of Jake Frankel, a former Mountain Xpress reporter, regular contributor to the Slumber Party show on Asheville FM and now executive editor at The Prem Rawat Foundation.

Job opening for part time editor at High Country Wedding Guide:

Part-time editor needed for gorgeous annual wedding publication with established print, digital, and social media presence. High Country Wedding Guide covers Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey counties in Western North Carolina. Responsibilities include overseeing and executing the print issue’s lineup of content, from producing a handful of shoots to choosing real-life wedding submissions, writing, fact-checking, and editing. Editor should have an affinity for weddings and should be based in Western North Carolina. Will be the local “boots on the ground” who works regionally with High Country vendors and remotely with publication’s art designer, editor-in-chief, sales representatives, and digital editor. Position is part-time over 4-6 month period, with a concentration toward the end of the year (publication goes to press in the third quarter). Time commitment totals about 4 months. -Former N.C. House member Tim Moffitt, a controversial politician if ever there was one in Buncombe County, has been appointed to the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, reports the Asheville Citizen-Times. The local GOP appointed Moffitt to fill the spot that opened up after Commissioner Miranda DeBruhl suddenly announced she was resigning her seat.
