Asheville’s Laurey Masterton is Livestrong cover personality

Asheville cyclist, food entrepreneur and ovarian cancer survivor Laurey Masterton is the current cover personality for Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation on Facebook.

A muscular Masterton–who’s biked across the U.S. for cancer awareness and planned a Livestrong cycling fundraiser before health issues intervened–appears in the Livestrong Facebook header image.

From Masterton herself, in the current newsletter for Laurey’s Catering and Gourmet to Go, the popular downtown eatery she owns:

Whee!  I’m the cover girl (of the moment) for Livestrong.  What an honor!  Yes, I do know about all the hubbub about Lance and all, but I speak on behalf of the 28 million people living with cancer in the world.  I know that MY life is better because of my involvement with Livestrong.  When I met him, Lance was a nice guy to me. We all have done things we regret.  And since I wasn’t there, I’m not sure I have ANYTHING to say on the subject except that I am deeply grateful that Livestrong exists.  And that I am a part of it.
