Asheville Citizen-Times: Topless women return to streets of downtown Asheville

Share

Two women strolled the streets of Asheville topless Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that the women were with activist Jeff Johnson, who has organized a topless rally in downtown for the past couple of years. Topless Asheville background here and here.

Meantime, N.C. Rep. Tim Moffitt of Asheville has been trying to get a bill passed that would make it illegal for women to bare their nipples in public. That bill’s gone nowhere so far.

And former Asheville City Councilman Carl Mumpower and Chad Nesbitt continue their crusade against the bare-breasted ones at GoBrainless.org. From Mumpower:

The part-time children’s clown and pediatric practice manager who organized Asheville second topless street party is back. Yesterday he and a couple of his prey/performers did a repeat street walk through Asheville’s downtown. That activity, under current state and local law, is legal. Uplifting to women? Not by any stretch of the imagination we can muster.

For two and a half years Asheville city leaders have dithered and avoided instituting a local ordinance to stop this activity. They have stood behind a call for an unnecessary state ordinance that is stuck in committee for good reason. Claims by the city attorney that there are risks of constitutionality do not match with the passage of similar unchallenged ordinances by other cities in North Carolina. There is a reason that Asheville is the only city in our state targeted by this activity – our reputation as an “anyway you like it – cesspool of sin” is strong and our enforcement courage is weak.

The issue with these exhibitionist driven street parties (don’t buy the protest nonsense) is sexual performance, not nipples. Our city leaders and police administrators have allowed bad things to happen two times in a row. Some of those include-

Sexually suggestive dancing on the city fountain.
Nursing and fondling of women’s nipples in our public park.
Participants squeezing their breasts toward the crowd.
Breast fondling by men in attendance.
Participation by underage girls.
All the above in the presence of minors.

Asheville City Counsel lacks courage, our leaders lack morals. This is what we are faced with, this is why our world has changed, this is why asheville is a cesspool . YES it is legal to walk around with your bare breasts. has been for a long time. What Mumpower and Nesbitt are shining the light on, is that the right already exists. We don’t need stupid naked people dancing on our City Water Fountain, we don’t need the retarded men grabbing at the womens’ breasts. The “show” is what they are protesting. The sick sick SIDE SHOW.

Why does the Clown from Alabama call it a Protest or a Rally? There is nothing to protest or rally about. It is legal in Asheville. A rally or a protest does not include sexual agression, sucking on a womans breast in front of children on a Sunday afternoon (or anytime)

Those of you who choose to demonize Mumpower or Nesbitt, are completely ignoring the truth, the actual events that have taken place. There WERE underage high school girls at the first event. They did have their photos taken by hundreds of men that day, whilst they were topless. that IS ILLEGAL. The other word for it is Pervert, or Pedophilia.

Attacking Nesbitt and Mumpower is the obvious EASY choice, while ignoring the disgusting deeds/acts of the moral-less . Much easier to attack these 2 upstanding MEN, who are trying to help Asheville People and BUSINESSES save irself, than to delve into the sick minds and disgusting acts of those causing this city damage. Many of which do not live here :} They are simply using Assville for their “event”

Easy way out, take the light off of the filth, and shine it on those who have the GUTS to address the scum. I would like to hear from some Moms out there, some upstanding WOMEN, who find this breast fest disgusting and see it as a total failure of our City Leaders.

I am a Mom from HERE . I an concerned, I am wondering if any other moms care? Let’s hear from you.

Actually, it is NOT illegal to take pictures of things that are both (1) legal and (2) in a public place; it may even be legal to take the pictures even if the act is illegal but it is done in public. Selling and/or transmitting said pictures over the internet might be illegal, but that would be a federal law issue. So, if it is legal for underage girls to be topless in a public place, then it is legal for people (including perverts) to take pictures of them. Just Saying.

The “Boobie Bill” has failed to find support so it remains perfectly legal for men and women to go topless in AVL.

Mumpower and Nesbitt illustrate better than anyone in Asheville the old political trick, “Don’t confuse me with the facts, which I fabricate at will and stick to no matter what, because I want my name in the media.” They get Jeff Johnson’s name right but almost nothing else. Poor fellows. They need attention for their unending sexual obsession with women’s breasts.
