Tony Kiss, the Asheville Citizen-Times Beer Guy, reports:

Many a good story has come out of Asheville’s craft breweries. You could probably turn them into some kind of TV series.

And that’s exactly what Theresa Phillips is planning, except her series, Brewing in Asheville, will be shown on the Web.

She’s planning 10 episodes, each of them about five minutes long and starring some local actors (Ralph Redpath, Chris Allison, Diane Chapman, Emerald Robinson and Ann Mahoney). The story will follow a little group called the Brewtopia Club, which regularly meets at the Asheville craft breweries, where we learn about their lives.

“It’s sort of a situation comedy kind of thing, with interaction between these five main characters, and some others you will see,” said Phillips, who has worked in movie casting for years. Her credits include “The Last of the Mohicans,” “Richie Rich,” “The Patriot” and “The Fugitive.”

The story will involve an actress from Asheville who moved to Los Angeles then returned home, where she reunites with her old gang.

Phillips is in pre-production now and hopes to soon start shooting at the breweries, working in the morning so the crew won’t be in the way of customers. There’s already a website set up (www.brewinginasheville.net).
