I love this stuff–two-headed fetal pigs in formaldehyde, man-eating snakes, men who can make their tatoos dance by rippling their muscles. Total sucker here.
Actually, its just a nutria! A large rat that is taking over south Louisiana by the thousands. Hopefully, Katrina wiped out a few of them. They love to eat the roots of grass and have destroyed the marshlands by ripping up every plant in sight to munch on the roots.
To keep the number of nutria down; hunter get $4.00 per tail; SWAT teams from Orleans & Jefferson Parishes ride the canals of New Orleans and shoot them late at night for target practice, and the gourmet chefs are always trying to create dishes that will increase a taste for nutria meat.
So, as a former citizen of Cajun Country, I got a good laugh when I saw people actually paying to see a nutria!
