The President spoke Wednesday to a small crowd of local leaders, workers and their families at the Linamar plant on Long Shoals Road in Asheville. The President says Linamar is an example of how manufacturing is coming back. He says there are several things that can be done. He says the country needs more manufacturing institutes. There are four running or in the works and he wants Congress to fund 15 more throughout the US. Obama says the tax code needs to be reformed to disincent companies from moving jobs overseas. He says the federal government needs to work with local leaders to modernize infrastructure to attract new businesses to dormant facilities. Finally he says focus has to be put on education to better train workers. The President applauds local leaders using millions in incentives to bring in a company like Linamar.
