Word on the street: Possibly a new restaurant coming to Silver Dollar Cafe location in River Arts District

Share

Loyal Ashvegas reader B tells me that there may be a new restaurant life for the aging Silver Dollar Cafe in the River Arts District. The greasy spoon has been there forever, but this year the cafe’s operation has been spotty. From B:

I live right up the street, and things have been different lately, closed for a long time in the spring,  erratic schedule (well, that has always been true) but this would be a welcome addition to the RAD. Apparently the current owners are going to retire. Do some research, not 100 % positive.

The Silver Dollar sits on Clingman Avenue right across the street from the Grey Eagle. It’s a killer location – up on a hill, across the street from one of Asheville’s most popular music venues, plenty of room for parking. New life there would continue the upward trajectory of the River Arts District as Asheville’s hottest new dining destination. What should we call that – the River Eating District?

Time to do some research.

I love those Silver Dollar folks, and will miss the best breakfast potatoes in town, served with love. But time marches on. I'm sure the new place will be great, whatever it is.

Sorry man … Probably shouldn't have said anything in the first place. Previous post still stands but out of respect to the new Business owners they should say what (and when) they want about theIr venture …

Jason … Looks like a Beer Garden is taking shape, opening in the fall. It's is not us but I figured it out tonight. Should get formal word soon.
