Fox put her intention on record in an Asheville Citizen-Times story by Karen Chavez:
Over the past 20 years, Fox worked her way up through local restaurants, eventually getting into management, remarried and had another son. She also discovered Facebook and reconnected with many of her girlhood friends, who started discussing Peruvian handicrafts and how popular they were becoming in the United States.
“It was a crazy idea, but my husband and I decided one week to open a business. We got a loan and opened a shop in Hendersonville.”
The focus was to sell items that breathe the beauty of Perú, a country steeped in ancient history and intricate artisanship from the time of the Incas. It is a country that draws from vastly disparate geography, from the coast to the Amazonian jungle, to the Andes Mountains, where the 15th-century ruins of the old Inca Empire, Machu Picchu, lie. …
Fox said she and her husband are considering opening another business soon to celebrate the food of Perú. She thinks anything with a Peruvian touch will be well received.“It’s very mystical and projects a lot of good energy,” she said. “It’s magic.”
