Word on the street: Movie production will film on streets of downtown Asheville

Word on the street is that the movie production crew for the Loomis Fargo movie, also known as the “unnamed armored car” project, plans to film on the streets of downtown Asheville in coming weeks. I’ve heard the crew may shoot on Biltmore Avenue and College street, two streets that run by the BB&T building, where the movie production crew is headquarters.

I’ve asked the city of Asheville for information about the movie crew requesting permits for closing down streets, and am waiting to hear back. I’ve also asked if the movie production has been permitted for the use of any other city-owned property.

Over the past couple of weeks, the movie crew has been filming in Swannanoa, Franklin and Old Fort.

Meantime in Asheville, sightings of the celebrities tied to the movie have become a commonplace occurrence. Owen Wilson has been the most visible – he was reportedly hanging at The Wedge on Wednesday evening. Kristen Wiig has been seen shopping and buying local art. And Zach Galifianakis apparently likes barbecue – he’s been spotted at Luella’s and 12 Bones.

Word from an employee of the Federal Building is that they will be shooting in there for a number of weeks.
