Word on the street: Diamond Brand to open new retail store in South Asheville

Word on the street is that Diamond Brand is planning to build a new retail store in the former Harris Teeter shopping center on Hendersonville Road. Fresh Market is also planning to build a second store here.

Diamond Brand, which is a 130-year-old manufacturer that made the first official Boy Scout backpack, recently landed a $2.7 million contract to make tents for the U.S. military. It’s a great local company. More details as I get them.
