From the WNC Media Center’s website. Very cool stuff:
The Media Center is very excited to announce a new program to train and equip citizen video-journalists, called uReporters (think CNN’s iReports). Media Center producers can complete a uReporter Certification Classto submit footage for a timely weekly program on URTV & urRadio focusing on community issues and events.
The Media Center already offers training and resources to turn ordinary citizens into digital media producers and outlets to share their stories with the community on cable and the web. The uReporter program brings those producers together to provide curated, up-to-date programming about the things that are important to our community, covered from a wide variety of points of view.
The two-session uReporter Certification Class will focus on choosing what to cover, preparing for a shoot, and standardizing field reporting techniques and content submission. The class will be offered at a special promotional price of $15 for Media Center producers. Field Gear Certificationis required for those using the Media Center’s field production equipment.
The first uReporter Certification Class will be held Monday, October 4 at the Media Center. SeeCore Certification Class Schedule for more dates.

My experience is that the WNC media center aka. URTV is an educational bargain. You have to put something into it to get something out of it. But my time producing there was totally worth it.
