So here’s the latest on the personnel carousel at WLOS:
Julie Wunder has been named retiring Bob Caldwell’s replacement as the morning and news weather-guesser. Station management said they had more than 50 applications for the job.
Tuesday, as y’all know, is Caldwell’s last day at WLOS after 41 years on local television. WLOSers said they’re re-airing their Bob Caldwell special on Friday and Saturday, but it’s in the early morning hours so you’ll have to set your VCR or drink a lot of Red Bull to stay up and watch. Also, Wednesday is “Bob Caldwell Day” in Asheville, with Wednesday being Bob’s first offical day of retirement.
Susan Mundy’s last day is Friday, according to word on the street.
No more word on WLOSers putting together a 10 p.m. newscast for WYMA. Soon as we know more, we’ll share.

I do believe Pat is in the reserves.
I heard someone saying Jay can now be called a meteorologist. I can only guess he was taking online classes somewhere or else someone would have spotted him at one of the local colleges.
I still think they’re looking for a NEW weekend weather person, leaving Jay to co-anchor the morning/noon.
UPDATE: WLOS has Weekend Weather Anchor job posted today on the sinclair website…I guess that answers the question about Jay Siltzer, good call IMO.
I think I head Pat say something tonight on the news about having been on "national reserves duty" or something. Anyone else hear that?

The Meteorologist job posting on the Sinclair website was taken off this afternoon, plus the summer weather promos have Jay included in them…sounds to me like they have their minds made up to go with Jay on the weekends. If that’s the case, he should drop the morning anchor gig.
This station will NEVER dedicate the money and resources to weather…they have a friggin agreement with Accuweather but they haven’t upgraded anything since the contract began. Accuweather is showcasing their new SelectWarn Doppler which makes Neighborhood Doppler look like an old toy from the early 90’s but you’ll never see it on ABC 13. They (WLOS) are also the only station (not including FOX) that have only three certified Meteorologists where as the other major locals around here have four…the only legit Meteorologist at ABC 13 is Cuevas, Wunder got hers in the mailbox thanks to Mississippi St University and I think Jay got his at Wal-Mart down on Swannanoa River Road.
Well, I would think they’re still looking for another weather person unless they’re going to take Jay off the morning show and replace him with another anchor.
He’ll probably fill in on the weekends for now; probably Saturdays, with Cuevas possibly working Sundays.
since julie is moving to the morning show. .will jay siltzer move to the weekend show?
The words dynamic and Jay Siltzer do not go together.
You’re on crack weather watcher. jay siltzer is the worst thing on television, in any market and anywhere.
julie will help bring the show into the 21st century instead of the same old shit from 1959.
What a disappointment…I would think Jay Siltzer and Victoria Dunkle would be a much more dynamic team! Bob Caldwell’s shoes will be hard enough to fill as it is and Jay definitely comes closer than Julie Blunder.

Well, I hope they do a complete overhaul because I may puke if Victoria and Julie runs the morning show. I’m courious with as many as 50 who applied, can somebody actually dig around to find out any familiar names who applied for the job?
