911 calls

Cherub Charu went for the sensational tonight at 11 with a collection of 911 calls featuring hyperventilating bluehairs crying to fatty emergency dispatchers about the earthquake.

We’re sure they must have stolen the idea from their ABC buddy John Quinones, who had a news magazine report tonight about – guess what – scary 911 calls. It was called “Life on the Line.” At least the regal Quinones added a tone of compassion to the report.

All Cherub Charu did was tell us not to call 911 unless someone had lost a limb. And what the hell did the Grove Arcade have to do with the report? She was standing out in the dark by the stall markets doing her standup. Why?

Children of the corn

John “Punnyman” Le delivered his usual cornball report about a Canton man’s corn maze, but he really let us down on the puns. We were sadly disappointed. This report, about a man who carved a likeness of the famous Iwo Jima scene into his cornfield, was ripe for Le to go wild with, if he’d had an ear to the ground. But no silk lining here. Just a dull report without a kernel of pop. Oh well.

The end
What was up with the end of the broadcast Thursday night? There’s some happy talk, with Jenny “Gettin’ it Done” Dunn, and the Diva and Cabana Boy. Cuevas prattled on about the hurricane, with Diva Darcel making eyes at him and grunting.

When he finally shut up, Darcel said something about some beautiful music being played by Sharon someone at the Cafe on the Square. Then they showed like 15 seconds of tape of some woman singing.
No explanation.

What the eff??? Some personal favor by the Diva to get a friend on TV??? A personal favor by someone else???

Arghhhhhhh!!!
