After selling out their 2014 show at the Asheville Jewish Community Center, Asheville Aerial Arts decided to team up with the Asheville Community Theatre. “We had to double our seating in March and it still wasn’t enough.” Artistic Director, Christine Aiken said. “The show was a huge success, generating an immense response from the public. We had no more tickets to sell, and those we sold wanted to tell their friends and family to come. We just couldn’t accommodate them. We approached Asheville Community Theatre, since we have always wanted to partner to bring their first, full aerial show to the stage. What a beautiful venue to present Soaring in!”

Emotion and beauty are just two reasons you can’t miss this show. Combining theater, dance and aerial arts, this show is more than a showcase of this local troupe’s talent. Soaring will take audiences on a journey through one man’s life and the adventures he experiences along the way. We see Roy, played by Asheville Community Theatre’s Scott Cameron, as a young boy, growing up with his sweetheart Katie. They celebrate their marriage in a doubles trapeze piece that is sure to thrill you with impressive skills and tenderness between Roy and Katie. Katie’s loss of life is honored through a moving lyra performance, sure to bring tears to your eyes. The show moves on to introduce a new apparatus, the aerial window demonstrating the troupe’s creativity. Along the way, Roy introduces audiences to a giant bird, played by a stilt walker, and a child (aerials performed by a mere 5 year old) he meets along the way. The finale will feature a fan favorite, silks with stunning aerials. This show has something for everyone… Acrobalance, German Wheel, Spanish Web, Trapeze, Silks, Sling, Lyra, Double Trapeze, Stilt Walking and for the first time in an Asheville based production, this run includes the rarely seen Cyr Wheel.

Just wanted to say that this is an incredible show, and if you’re not doing anything Sunday afternoon, you should try to see the last performance at ACT.

Saw them on the news. They make their moves seem effortless, but MANY HOURS have gone into making that happen.
I am currently without a job, so I would LOVE to win tickets so I can see them!

Thanks!
