Come taste the “Tyranny Red Ale which runs 7.2% and is loaded full of dank, west coast hop flavor and our Saison I, a farmhouse style ale that clocks in at 6.2% and is loaded with citrus and pepper notes.”

Wicked Weed started attracting attention for its beer way back in September, when it took People’s Choice honors for its beer entry at Brewgrass 2012–no small feat for a brand-new brewer on the scene.

Wicked Weed’s official opening at its new brewpub is Friday December 28 at 5 p.m. But you can check out the new brews this Friday at Thirsty Monk downtown, 5:30 – 7 p.m.

From Wicked Weed on Facebook:

Join us at the Thirsty Monk on 12/21 from 5:30 – 7:00pm and be able to tell your neighbors (…friends, siblings, parents, significant other and any other person you want to impress/have a leg up on/mock) that YOU drank one of the first pints of beer we ever sold!

Yes, 12/21 is the apocolypse and the potential end of the world. We couldn’t think of a better way to distract ourselves and all our Facebook/Twitter friends from this fact than to release two killer beers (…sorry, pun intended) at our favorite beer bar in Asheville, the Thirsty Monk.

We will have two kegs of beer pouring, the Tyranny Red Ale which runs 7.2% and is loaded full of dank, west coast hop flavor and our Saison I, a farmhouse style ale that clocks in at 6.2% and is loaded with citrus and pepper notes.

[…] After awhile it was time to head back downtown for the next stop. That very evening, Wicked Weed was debuting their tasty beer at one of the best craft beer bars in the world, The Thirsty Monk. The first beer was scheduled to pour at 5:30. I walked into a packed bar shortly there after. You could tell that the locals were excited to try the newest edition to Asheville’s beer scene.  I sat down at the bar and was immediately welcomed by my bartender buddy Clete. Come to find out he is now a full time pharmacy student which is why I haven’t seen him my last several stops to the Monk Pub. Seems that he came out to work at the bar to lend a hand for Wicked Weed’s Debut. […]
