What’s brewing on Haywood Road

Share

There’s lots of talk about all the new bars and restaurants in the works along Haywood Road, although we haven’t heard it from anyone who knows what she’s talking about. Still, if all the talk is true, Haywood Road could be the next great drinker’s paradise, with a great mix of old roadhouse and new pubs and restaurants.

This sign says Tolliver’s Irish Pub will replace the burned out Ideal Market, which had the greatest sammich in the world, the Crazybird. There’s talk that the Root Bar out in Swannanoa will locate another outpost along Haywood Road here.

And there’s talk of yet another new restaurant/bar coming. And we’re not talking about the Rocket Club. Remember that one? From all we can tell, the Rocket Club, which was supposed to go in down near the biodiesel station on Haywood Road, is a fantastic dud.

Don’t you make fun of me and my peeps!
Of course we have jobs, we keep the city moving at night.

indeed, zen. we were particularly partial to the "Crazy Bird," with it’s fresh turkey and zesty relish. there was a nice vibe to the place, too, with a cool area at the back and the back porch.

sunny point is also awesome, as you say. what a scene that place is! who in the hell are these people that are lounging in the sun on their patio every day at like 10:30? don’t these people have jobs?

Ideal market had several wonderful sammiches and "the breakfast special" which i always ordered despite convincing myself going in that i was going to "try something new." It was a sad day when it burned, forcing all of us to crowd Sunny Point Cafe, which is good on it’s own.
