Even more of what’s going around today, including a planned expansion for the Westville Pub:

The Westville Pub is planning to expand into space adjacent to its current location in the Bledsoe Building on Haywood Road. The space is being used as the West Asheville location of the Buncombe County Democratic Party headquarters right now.

-The latest on Asheville hotel construction: With downtown seemingly saturated with new hotel projects, the latest trend has been developers proposing projects east of downtown on the Tunnel Road corridor. The Element hotel is proposed at the west entrance to the tunnel, and a new Fairfield Inn & Suites is being built at 184 Tunnel Road. The latest, a GLo Best Western, will be a four-story, 37,600-square-foot hotel proposed for 509 Tunnel Road. The project is up for a first review at the city’s Technical Review Committee meeting on Nov. 21.

7 Ton Design and Letterpress Co. in West Asheville has been named one of the best arts and crafts makers in the U.S. An expert panel assembled by USA Today nominated makers and readers of the newspaper voted their top ten.

-From last week: The Grey Eagle reports that NASCAR driver Danica Patrick watched the World Series finale Wednesday night at the music club. Grey Eagle owner Russell Keith posted a photo.

The Jon Stickley Trio is asking the public for $28,000 to help them make a new album. The crowdfunding campaign ends in four days. The group has raised almost $24,000 so far.

The Resonant Rogues are asking the public for $10,000 to help them fund a new album. The Kickstarter campaign ends in 14 days, and so far has raised more than $3,000. The Resonant Rogues have a big show at the Mothlight on Nov. 18, and plan to record their album, Hands in the Dirt, at Echo Mountain in early November. The Mothlight show will include Ellis Dyson & the Shambles, a great Skiffle band from Chapel Hill and local ragtime picker Vaden Landers.
