Check out the latest edition of Soundcheck AVL, featuring the Natural Born Leaders, who will be playing a show at Salvage Station at 9 p.m. on Saturday. The Natural Born Leaders will be joined by Spaceman Jones and the Jake Quillin Band.
Natural Born Leaders‘ music has been variously described as gumbo funk, neo-soul, roots rock and hip-hop. The band has a conscious bent and spreads the word of social justice and love. It’s fronted by Mike Martinez and includes: bassist James Eddington; Ben Survant on saxophone; Kevin Murtha on drums; and Rex Shafer on guitar. The band lists influences ranging from The Fugees to Nirvana.
