WordCamp tickets on sale now; two-day conference coming to Asheville in May

UDPATE: Here’s the WordCamp ticket page.

ORIGINAL POST Jan. 15: Loyal reader Lydia tells me that she’s helping to organize Asheville’s first WordCamp, an affordable two-day conference entirely focused on all things WordPress. The event is May 30-June 1 at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College’s Enka campus. Tickets are expected to go on sale in early March. They will cost around $40.

More here at WordCamp Central:

Visitors and residents alike enjoy Asheville’s rich culture and relaxed atmosphere, from the beautiful natural surroundings of the Blue Ridge Mountains to its blossoming food and beer scene. Amidst the artistic creativity found here is also a growing, close-knit tech community. Local meetup groups and other technical conferences have now paved the way for an entirely WordPress-focused event.

This will be the first WordCamp held in Asheville, and we look forward to bringing together WordPress enthusiasts from Western North Carolina and beyond. The event will take place over two days, with a third, optional Friday event. This Friday event is intended for beginners to WordPress looking to set up their first website in preparation for the Saturday and Sunday sessions. Our sessions will cover topics for beginners, bloggers, designers, and developers. Don’t miss being part of this first event taking place in one of the most vibrant cities in the nation.

Asheville would be a great destination for tech conferences, I think. Far better than the big city defaults.

Sweet, hope it gets a good turn out. Like to see more of this in the future.
