Join Us On Twelfth Night for Your Chance to be King or Queen of Asheville

Asheville, NC – The time is here to officially kick off the 2013 Asheville Mardi Gras season and everyone is invited! Each year the season begins with the free Twelfth Night Celebration on January 6th (12 nights after Christmas). On this magical night, the new King and Queen of Asheville’s 2013 Mardi Gras season will be crowed. We will pass out a slice of King Cake (provided by Short Street Cakes) to all current Asheville Mardi Gras supporting members who are looking for the chance to become the next King or Queen. Whomever finds the Mardi Gras baby in their slice will pick their royal consort, and the two will lead the Asheville Mardi Gras Parade on February 10th, 2013 through Asheville as King and Queen!

Welcome in this year’s Mardi Gras Season at Eleven on Grove. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the King Cake will be cut at 8 p.m. DJ Sloan Wolf & Steve-O will keep us on the dance floor with their luscious beats, and visuals show. Asheville Second Line (Asheville’s very own Mardi Gras marching band) will also have their debut performance as as we bring in the season in true Asheville Mardi Gras fashion. This event is a great opportunity to renew your membership or to become a new member of Asheville Mardi Gras! Your 2013 membership helps support the Asheville Mardi Gras Parade, Ball and all other AMG events. A membership will also get you in for free to the coveted Cajun Cook-off on Sunday, January 19th! You must be member to eat a piece of King Cake during Twelfth Night.

As with any AMG event, costumes are always encouraged, but never required. Please visit our partner, The Costume Shoppe on Lexington Ave., for all of your Mardi Gras costuming needs. For more information on becoming a member and all 2013 AMG events, visit ashevillemardigras.org or join our groups page on Facebook.
