To mark Groundhog Day, diners at Blind Pig Supper Club snack on, well, groundhog

Asheville’s popular Blind Pig Supper Club held one funky dinner this past weekend. With Chef Josh Dillard of Asheville Brewing Co. at the helm, the crew cooked up a menu inspired by Bill Murray movies. Attendees were encouraged to dress as their favorite Billy Murray character.

A quick sampling of the courses, and a few corresponding items, on the menu:

Lost in Translation
-salmon nigiri, whiskey soy, pickled jalapenos

Caddy Shack
-BBQ groundhog sliders

Life Aquatic
-sake poached black drum, grapefruit, hijiki, turnips, arugula

Groundhog Day
-groundhog meatball, jerk pasta blanket

Ghost Busters
-charred stay-puft marshmallow sammich

Pardon me for asking, but I attended the groundhog dinner and was terribly disappointed to learn one does not exist here in Virginia Beach, VA. How would one consider going about starting an underground suppers club, if someone could answer I would love to speak with them. I am particularly interested in learning how I might secure a chef.

Thanks you so much,

JoAnne

Apparently, Woodchuck is very popular in Appalachian cuisine. My how we learn things from our food.

Jason,

Better keep Sammy away from these folks on Dog Appreciation Day!
