The new music venue the Garage at Biltmore got slapped with a big red “unsafe” sticker today by city inspectors.
As you may recall, we blogged last week that we met the owner, Chris, who told us about how he’s gearing up to open and is planning a big Sept. 29 bash featuring Larry Keel. The garage shares the same building at the French Broad Brewery and tasting room down in Biltmore, just off Sweeten Creek.
The city inspection sticker says the owner has opened without the required city permits or inspections and has opened without a certificate of occupancy. It says the owner has applied for a building permit, but that’s on hold until everything else gets straight.
We wish the Garage all the best, but you gotta get your ducks in a row. We hear it all the time – it’s a hassle for new businesses to deal with all the city inspections’ red tape and bureaucracy. We know. But it’s something you gotta deal with, and you don’t want to start off on a bad foot like this.
Git ‘er done.
