The Asheville Citizen-Times offers ‘insider’ deals to subscribers

Share

The Asheville Citizen-Times is offering its subscribers a new program of events and deals.  What do subscribers get with the new Insider program? How about a tour of the newspaper’s ever-slimmer-staffed newsroom and coffee with Editor Josh Awtry? Or a $2 off per yard on drapery and upholstery fabric at Foam and Fabric, which just closed its downtown Asheville store? Or a chance to view historic photos that are already posted to its website?

In an email that publisher Dave Neill has sent to readers, he promises “exclusive content and value” that only the Citizen-Times can deliver.

Asheville Citizen-Times Insider.

It’d be cool to meet the editor and say something about a typo but i don’t know i think i’d be too nervous.

Sometimes when we read over our work, our brain knows what the word is cause we “wrote it” so then we miss the word that is spelled wrong. Now all the copy editors got laid off and don’t have jobs there anymore. Notice how those “will work for food” signs are always spelled correctly? That’s sad.

Perhaps a subscriber could explain the benefits of old fashioned proofreading…

Put a hyphen in that ‘old-fashioned’ or else i will need to see some ID, sir. 😉

So much passive aggression in this post. Let me try: look how lame and stupid the Citizen-Times is–especially compared to the impeccably researched, written, and edited Ashvegas!

This is definitely the “news I want.” I’ll be on the lookout for more sly and snide remarks here alongside ticket giveaways for bands that suck, crappy burrito joints, and coverage of moronic city council members.

Thank you for reading Ashvegas, Jamal. Please do come back. It’s readers like you that have sustained Ashvegas for 10 years. Here’s to 10 more!

“Exclusive content and value”! LOL. It looks like when this little brainchild was handed down from Gannett Corp they had to scramble and find something (ANYTHING) quick.

Here are some more “value” ideas:

* Free ride-along with a circulation/delivery driver.
* Submit your own restaurant puff piece for “The Scene.”
* A truck ride to wherever the printing press is these days.
* Foot massage from the advertising dept.

Perfect, Avg.Joe!
