Ted’s Excellent Adventure: Winding down

Ted’s trip to the Chapala region of Mexico is winding down. Here a few more of his thoughts at the end of a month of checking the place out. Again, more great photos from Steve – go to his Web site to see more.

Ted:

I’m getting down to the last week of my Mexico adventure. Also known as “Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” I don’t have any amazing Mexican stories yet. I’ve found the place a very mixed bag.

It can be dirty and filthy on one corner and down the street, behind a door, into a courtyard you find neat fountains and flowers growing, carefully cared for and really beautiful.

I’ve seen beggars in the streets or at the market doorway asking for handouts. But then there are well-mannered, clean shop attendants who are worlds away from the other scene. I have been assaulted with unpleasant odors and wonderful glimpses of beauty all in the blink of an
eye.

I have met people I like and people I don’t like, both Mexican and American and a couple other nationalities.
