A Hollywood film starring Frances McDormund will be shot this spring in downtown Sylva, according to multiple reports.
About 40 people attended a special meeting of the Sylva town board to hear plans to shoot Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, according to the Sylva Herald. Film location manager Robert Fowkes told the crowd that shooting would start April 25 and that Sylva’s Main Street was a prime location, according to the newspaper.
The movie is a $15 million feature starring McDormand, perhaps best known for her turn in Fargo, as well as Sam Rockewell, according to The Wilmywood Daily. More
In a interview last year with The Guardian, McDonagh spoke about the storyline. “It’s about a 50-year-old woman whose daughter is murdered and she goes to war with the police in her home town…because she thinks they are more interested in torturing black people than getting justice.” Although the film is of the crime genre, I’ve heard there is a dark comedy element to it as well. As soon as I get a confirmation on all of this, I will let you know!
