Sunday news: Billy Graham improves, Hearts w/ Hands is 15 and it’s hot

WLOSers led the news with an update on the condition of the Rev. Billy Graham, who was hospitalized yesterday w/ some intestinal bleeding. Sheraldo scored with a great interview of Graham’s son, Franklin Graham, who went on at length about his father’s improving condition, how his father longs for his wife, Ruth, who just died, and family support for his father. Sheraldo also had video of the congregation at the Presbyterian church in Montreat praying for Rev. Graham.

In other news: Kassandra Pride, sporting a white satin blouse that just doesn’t work for the news, told us how Hearts With Hands is celebrated its 15th anniversary at Rev. Ralph Sexton’s church, Trinity Baptist; back at the anchor desk, Russ Bowen told us that Ashvegas Mayor Terry Bellamy declared Sunday “Hearts With Hands Day”; there was a hit-and-run on Parker Padget Road in McDowell County and a Hispanic guy was charged; the annual Mayor’s Cup raft race was held on the French Broad and the town of Black Mountain repeated as winners of the trophy; and Russ and Jay Siltzer complained about how hot it’s been over in the weather center.
