STU HELM’S FOOD FEED

Hello, Asheville! We have a lot of catching up to do, so here’s another Food Feed for you. As I mentioned the last time, I’ve been getting most of my food delivered these days, although I do still venture out on foot into the world at times, all masked-up and socially distanced from other human people.

The words and pictures below were originally posted to Facebook. I hope that you will enjoy them, and that you will be able to get some, if not all of the delicious food items listed below

STORM RHUM BAR & BISTRO

Chef Jay from Storm Rhum Bar and Bistro stopped by my front porch with an insanely delicious box of food for me. Bangers and mash with baked beans and a whole confit duck leg and egg on top. It was over-the-top good! Jay reminded me the the first dish of his I ever ate, many years ago now, was bangers n mash. Mehhhhmories…

LOLA’S FRESH FOODS

Heads up on these DELICIOUS prepared meals from Lola’s Fresh Foods! They are available to order on line and are delivered right to your house. You get to choose from a menu and I chose wisely! A mild shrimp curry, and a fantastic Asian steak & noodle salad! Dawn and I enjoyed both tremendously! Oh! And the blueberry crumble pie dessert was AWESOME. Like, really good. And you know I like my sweets! I give this entire experience very high marks, and I recommend Lola’s Fresh Foods for anyone, especially busy people. www.lolafreshfood.com

NANI’S ROTISSERIE CHICKEN

Asheville, there’s a new super star in town. I went toNani’s Rotisserie Chicken in the Grove Arcade, and picked up a family feast to bring home. Wow. So much tasty food!!! A whole bird, cooked and seasoned to perfection, with a salad and four sides. Each item more delicious than the next. I can not wait to eat this wonderful food again. You can order from them online to pickup, https://www.nanischicken.com/ and we hope to add them to Kickbackavl soon!

LITTLE LOUIE’S POP-UP AT BUXTON HALL BARBECUE

posted to Stu Helm: Food Fan on December 7th, 2020

Y’all. Do not sleep on the Little Louie’s pop-up at Buxton Hall Barbecue. This is some of the deepest, dankest, most stonery-est food ever.  I friggin love it. Who knew that Chef Elliott Moss’s OTHER passion is Italian food? Not me. But I do now! Little Louie’s is open until 8pm tonight, (or until they run out of food), and starting at 4pm you can order delivery through Kickbackavl. Take my advice: Get this food while you can. It’s a 5 star pop-up in my opinion!

Little Louie’s is popping-up every Sunday and Monday in December.

ASHEVILLE PRO KITCHEN

posted to Stu Helm: Food Fan on December 5th, 2020

I recently got a delivery of prepared meals from a great local company called Asheville Pro Kitchen and boy, was I ever satisfied with these well balanced, nutritious, fresh, and delicious meals! I got four at once, and they are fresh as can be, so it’s ok to freeze them, which I did. Not before taking a small portion from each one and trying them all, though! I’m telling you what. That pot roast was the perfect texture and flavor, as was the rest of everything else. I know a lot of you are doing meal plans and stuff these days, and this is a great way to do that. All the calories and nutrition information is listed on the labels and everything. The owner was very nice on the phone too. I endorse and recommend this local company.

BEAR’S BBQ

posted to Stu Helm: Food Fan on November 18th, 2020

I heard there was a new food truck on the South Slope called Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ so I took a walk to check it out.

Wings were great. I might have to start buying the brisket by the pound. Not kidding.

Stay tuned as I eat my way through their menu.
