SantaCon returns to Asheville on Saturday

The Asheville SantaCon party returns to Asheville on Saturday. The event will start in West Asheville and involve much drinking and revelry from there. There’s a little video fun, and below find more helpful information that I picked up from organizers last year:

Come dress in your best Santa attire–elves and reindeer welcome too! The key is mass santanonymity, so please dress your part and do it with style! Over the years, some helpful guidelines have developed, so please see below. Most important- Santa’s move fast, so please bring cash! Vaguely inappropriate gift giving to people on the street loosely encouraged,and if not, please bring something to pass out, we are Santa for God’s sake…….. NO SANTA’S LEFT BEHIND!!!! And, most important……’What’s your name? Santa.” “Who’s in charge? Santa.” “Where are you from? The North Pole.” You get it? Comes in handy, really…..

In a nutshell……..What is Santa Con, you say? Gasp, you haven’t HEARD???!! Started by the Cacophony Society way back when (www.santarchy.com), this vaguely disguised raucous and sometimes debaucherous city (aka, bar) tour takes place in most major metropolitan areas, and here too!

Highlights of last year included caroling and crashing Mike Huckabee’s fund raising dinner at the Grove Park (who WAS that snowman anyway???), the Santa Bus (presently under construction), Santa’s physically escorted out of the strip club (“Who, us?”), the fruit cake catapult, a snowball fight, and various other stellar engagements.

This year, we have a whole new program loosely in store, but you’ll have to show up to find out….. Stripping is sort of a Santacon tradition, so feel free if you want to step on up!
