Here’s the rumor going around about the Blue Ridge Roller Girls, passed along by a loyal reader. Can anyone clarify?
I was shopping downtown yesterday & I overheard two local shopkeepers trading Asheville info. One of them was saying that the Blue Ridge Roller Derby Girls are over, done, kaput, disbanded, non-existent from here on out.
I was checking your site but didn’t see any posts about it. Figured you or one of your readers might have more info on the subject.

I think they might have confused, as many people in our TV age do, the end of the season with "the end"

Being a Blue Ridge Rollergirl myself, I can say with confidence your local derby gals are still skatin’ strong and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. We are now in the midst of our off-season which we have each year. During this time we continue practicing, train the newest group of blood thirsty derby dames, and take a breather from traveling and hosting monthly bouts. We’ll be back in action at the Civic Center come March and will host periodic fundraisers for the league between now and then. Thanks for your concern!

Whoa, we are soooo not on the way out. The Blue Ridge Rollergirls are heading into their 4th season starting in March, with 6 home bouts planned for the 2010 season.
Come see the first home bout on March 13th at the Asheville Civic Center.
Man, did y’all not catch us in the Holiday Parade as well?
