Asheville police have arrested and charged a Marshall man with first-degree murder in the death of a 62-year-old woman who worked as a Realtor/broker in the city and was found severely injured in a downtown parking lot.
The Asheville Police Department said in a news release that police found a woman seriously injured at 56 Central Ave. at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The woman, Christina “Tina” Kessinger, was taken to Mission Hospital, where she died.
On Saturday, Madison County Sheriff’s Department deputies found Kessinger’s car and a suspect, James Michael Norton, 29, according to the news release. Norton was charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the death of Kessinger, according to the release.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that Kessinger was stabbed in the head with a screw driver. Kessinger was a Realtor/broker with the Asheville Realty Group.
