-preserving Appalachian mountains: Act to preserve the Appalachian mountains by prohibiting electric public utilities that operate coal-fired generating units located in North Carolina from purchasing or using coal that is extracted using mountaintop removal coal mining.

as to you question about the relevancy of the daily newspaper — only time will tell.

The Citizen-Times recommended something like this in an editorial not too long ago. Could that newspaper become relevant again? Will they follow up now that this legislation has been introduced? Where are our local legislators on this one?
