Rally for 23 Million, a major health care rally, is set for 5 p.m. Monday in Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville.

-Range Urgent Care is opening at 674 Merrimon Ave., a new urgent care option in Asheville.

-“Oink said the Chicken” is the name of Luella’s Bar-B-Que’s 10-year anniversary party set for July 22 at Merrimon location.

-Luvies Brewing is the name of the Yacht Club’s new brewing operation on Patton Ave. in #Asheville.

-Wicked Weed Brewing has announced that it is donating $50,000 to the YMCA of WNC.

-Buncombe County commissioners, in approving their budget earlier this week, approved a big cut to the Diana Wortham Theatre, WLOS reports. Commissioners gave the theater $350,000 in taxpayer money last year as part of the county’s budget to support community organizations. For the coming fiscal year, that amount was cut to $175,000, according to WLOS.

-The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival has been bringing the wonderfully weird, cutting edge, and avant garde to Asheville for 15 years, and they’re kicking off the next season of Fringe with a party at downtown’s Crow and Quill on June 28 that will celebrate supporters, reports Asheville Grit. More:

The Crow and Quill event opens the 2018 Fringe Fest submission period and will also mark the beginning of the Summer Fringe series. The event begins at 7 p.m. with a mix and mingle, and Fringe directors Jim Julien and Jocelyn Reese will be on hand answering questions from prospective Fringe artists. At 8 p.m., Fringe supporters in the community will be recognized in an awards ceremony. At 9 p.m., the experimental dance troupe The Accidentals, who are also long-time Fringe artists, will perform.
