Fun! Press release here:

With 1960s fashion and hairstyles making a come-back, it’s no wonder this decade which brought us the beehive hairstyle, mod sheath dresses, and knee high boots was selected as the inspiration for the Product of the 60s Fashion Show. This event, taking place on Friday, February 28th will feature 1960s inspired designs from top local fashion designers, in addition to hairstyling and makeup artistry by local stylists. The event, starting at 7 pm, will feature a cocktail/networking hour followed by the runway fashion show at 8 p.m., and then an after party that will run until 10 pm—all located at the Renaissance Hotel located on Woodfin Street in downtown Asheville. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in their favorite 60s inspired outfits, prizes will be given for the top ones.

This is the 2nd year for this fashion show, last year the 1980s was represented, and the event had a dozen fashion designers on board and over 30 models in the show. With an attendance of over 200 people, the event raised valuable funds for the Asheville Affiliates, the non-profit the event is again supporting this year.

“The Product of the 60s Fashion Show is a very special event not only because it showcases and promotes our fashion community here in Asheville, but also due to the wonderful organization it supports,” said Sarah Merrell, creator and event director for the show. “The designers who have their apparel on the runway in this show are truly talented and it’s just a fantastic opportunity to see their amazing work combined with the hairstyling and makeup. Attendees will be highly entertained.”

To promote the show, Merrell teamed up with Morgan Ford Photography and Amy Day Dougherty of Aabani Salon to produce 1960s inspired photography that includes previews of some of the designs that will be seen in the fashion show. This sneak-peak is available on the Product of the 60s Fashion Show Facebook page and in advertising for the show.

There is a $10 cover charge for the event which benefits the Asheville Affiliates, a local non-profit made up of young professionals that plans fundraiser parties for local charities.
