More of what’s going around, including a further revamping of Pritchard Park:
–There’s more work scheduled to be done on Pritchard Park, changes that some see as aimed at keeping homeless people from camping out in the park. Earlier this year, the city of Asheville trimmed trees and worked on the park’s water feature. Now they’re coming back to do more landscaping and fencing work.
–The Panini Factory is coming to 333-B Merrimon Ave., according to construction permits pulled for the location.
-A new pizza joint called Manicomia Pizza is coming to the former Hannah Flannagan’s space on Biltmore Avenue in downtown. Construction crews have been busy gutting the interior of the building and reworking the adjacent courtyard.

–Retrocade is the name of a new business that’s pulled permits to take over the space vacated by Pour Taproom on Haywood Road. Sounds like a fun game room is coming to West Asheville
–European Wax Center, a skin waxing chain, is coming to 182 Merrimon Avenue, Suite 50.
-Local musician Aaron Price has organized a concert to benefit the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity at 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 at West Asheville Presbyterian Church. Local performers include Valorie Miller, Ian Ridenhour, Jamie Laval, Laura Blackley, Kevin Smith & Planefolk, Blake Anthony Ellege and more! The public is invited.
–U-Haul Moving & Storage of South Asheville at 3161 Sweeten Creek Road is now offering truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies, towing equipment and professional hitch installation, and U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers, according to a press release. More: “U-Haul acquired the formerly vacant 58,487-square-foot warehouse on June 15. Extensive renovations will soon render 900 indoor self-storage units (climate-controlled and non-climate controlled) with high-tech safety features. There will be propane on the 4.64-acre lot in the near future.”
-The nonprofit Green Opportunities, the Asheville Housing Authority, Upfront Management Sports Agency, the Residents Council of the Asheville Housing Authority and Southside community partners will host the annual Southside Community Thanksgiving Dinner from 5-7 p.m.. on Tuesday, Nov. 22 in the gymnasium of the Arthur R. Edington Education & Career Center. This meal is free and open to the public. More: “The GO Kitchen Ready program cooked 20 turkeys for last year’s dinner, which drew over 500 guests from across Asheville and the Southside neighborhood. This year, the Kitchen Ready team will prepare turkey, ham, side dishes, desserts, and drinks. The serving line will be staffed by local civic leaders, including Mayor Esther Manheimer, District Attorney Todd Williams, Vice Mayor Gwen Wisler, and Terry Bellamy, director of communications for the Asheville Housing Authority.”
–The Holiday Flea For Y’all will bring more than 150 vendors from across the Southeast to the WNC Ag Center’s Davis Arena for a holiday retail extravaganza on Dec. 3, according to a press release. More:

Pritchard Park is closed and cleared of people every night, so by “camping out” you must mean “hanging out all day.” Seems like more precise wording would be a good idea when you just recently posted an article about an actual homeless campsite . . .
