From Chris: This one is a set devoted to the Escort show at the Asheville Music Hall. They killed it. Probably my favorite set of Moogfest, ahead of Daedalus. Separate set for this, because I could get right up on the stage and get some good shots.

Only rarely is one at the point where lightning strikes and the universe is electric, but that’s what happened when Escort hit the stage at Asheville Music Hall! Afterward, I told Eugene Cho that Escort made me think it was 1981 and that they were the hottest band on Ze Records! The next day I actually played a record by Material and Nona Hendrix and I have to say that Escort were hotter!
Escort dubs themselves “disco”, but I think they’re in the genre of “awesome”. The Music Hall was packed to capacity (at least) with bouncing, happy people. Highly recommended, if you get a chance to see them (and there’s an enthusiastic crowd).
I spoke with some Brooklynites in line for RJD2, and they said that Escort (also Brooklynites) were “too fast” for Brooklyn. But apparently just the right tempo for Moogfest!
