Our Voice offers training program for volunteers

Press release:

Our VOICE Prevention, Education & Outreach (PEO) programs seek to empower young people in developing school and social cultures of safety and respect. As a PEO volunteer, you will help teens recognize the impact of sexual violence and identify harmful attitudes and beliefs that contribute to cultures of violence.

The PEO training (22 hours + 2 shadow sessions) will prepare you to facilitate programs for teenagers as part of our commitment to reach every ninth grade health class in Buncombe County. You will also have the opportunity to present in other settings, such as shelters, treatment centers, assisted living facilities, faith-based institutions and after-school groups. As part of your role in the PEO program, you will also reach out to new groups to offer them a brief information session about Our VOICE services and programs.
