This looks like a great night. Here’s the note from loyal reader Evan:

Thursday, June 27, the Fine Arts Theatre will be screening Ain’t In It For My Health: A Film About Levon Helm. It’s a one-night-only screening and will be followed by a few songs and a Q&A with Laurelyn Dossett, Greensboro-based songwriter of “Anna Lee,” from Levon’s Dirt Farmer album. Tickets are $10 and available at brownpapertickets.com and the Fine Arts box office. Advance tickets are recommended as this will likely sell out. The show starts at 7pm.

Here’s the description and trailer:

Director Jacob Hatley’s intimate documentary finds Mr. Helm at home in Woodstock, NY, in the midst of creating his first studio album in 25 years. Shot during the course of two-plus years, this highly anticipated film focuses in on the four-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member after his 2007 comeback album, Dirt Farmer, brought him back to the spotlight.

Thanks for spreading the word and for keeping me and the rest of Asheville informed!

Best,
Evan

This was a somewhat minimalist but highly entertaining documentary. If you get a chance to check it out, I highly recommend it. A great portrait of Helm, and some quietly crushing moments of emotional depth.
