Word on the street is that a Food Network crew interviewed reps of the Chop Shop butchery, Bluewater Seafood and City Bakery, which are all neighbors in a building on Charlotte Street in Asheville. The group of shops is known collectively as the Charlotte Street Marketplace.
The shops make for a great little food corner in Asheville. The Chop Shop is a boutique butchery that sources its meat from local farms and opened less than a year ago. Bluewater Seafood sells fresh fish and serves a delicious lunch and has been around a couple of years. City Bakery, which has been around since 1999, sells fresh baked goods, as well as sammiches and such. All three really play off each other to create a great little marketplace.
No word on the reason for why the Food Network chose The Charlotte Street Marketplace. Guess we’ll have to watch and see.

The Chop Shop is also featured in the April/May issue of Garden and Gun which should hit newsstands soon. It’s an article highlighting 5 hot new chop shops/charcuteries in the South.
Where should we watch? Do we have any idea for what show?
I LOVE it there. So great to have such great food and art/crafts in one block.
I love this little corner. It’s like our version of Chelsea Market (on a much smaller scale) The Foundry is great for local and craft items, too. Go Asheville!
Isn’t Bluewater in Asheville closed?
