Shame about the demise of the Joli Rouge. I think every town should support a pirate goth bar.
I just hope it has a well thought out business plan along with some cash flow to sustain them during the slow months.
Business plan plus positive cash flow spells success regardless of the name.
Perhaps they wanted an extra sugary name to help wash away all the spooky-ooky goth vibes the Joli Rouge left behind…

Usually I give restaurants a fighting chance to prove themselves. This one, though…from the name (Sweet Rock Candy Mountain does not conjure up food excitement by any stretch of the imagination — unless it was a candy shop which, alas, it is not) to the menu it feels totally uninspired. Another casual Southern-style American bistro is the last damn thing Asheville’s food scene needs right now.

Of course, I’ll visit them when they open and things could change between now and then. I could be eating these words in time. But right now I give them four months.
