‘No Depression’ issue release party set for Isis Music Hall in West Asheville on Aug. 3

Attention Asheville music fans: No Depression, the respected roots music magazine, is throwing an issue release party on Aug. 3 at The Isis Restaurant and Music Hall. Here’s more from magazine Editor Kim Ruehl, who lives here in Asheville:

Hey Jason – Hope you’re doing well. No Depression is throwing an event at the Isis, and wanted to follow up to see if you think you’d be interested in doing something about it on Ashvegas.

The gist: the issue’s theme is “Homegrown,” so we decided to do an event in my hometown. To boot, the issue’s cover art was done by AVL artist Colin Sutherland and there’s collage work in there by Ariana Dixon (who also works at Odd’s Cafe). We got members of Tellico to come do a short set ahead of the headliner Rod Picott (actually from Nashville, though he’s a longtime friend of ND and has written for our website before). It’s all a big family party, more or less.

Tickets are $12, which all goes toward the live music. But, for the price, people who come get an open bar and a free copy of ND if they show up between 6 – 7. After that, copies of the issue will be $10 – still a giant savings off the retail price, which is $22.

Plus, people can get there early (or stay late) and take advantage of the Isis’ “All You Care to Eat” crab legs special.
