Russ was looking sharp Sunday night with a salmon-colored tie and gray suit. Here’s the news:

Woman dies in blaze
Kassandra “Special K” Pride went out to Etowah in Henderson County to tell us that a woman died in a fire Saturday night.

The home along Hwy. 64 was on fire about 7:30 p.m. When two men saw the fire and stopped to try and help. The woman’s husband was outside, saying his wife was trapped. But nobody could get in, Pride said. No word on the cause of the fire, she said. The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating.

The weather
It was a beautiful 68 degrees in Ashvegas on Sunday and will get warmer at the start of the week, Julie Blunder told us.

In other news…
Hollabrook Farms, a new development in Fletcher, has just about sold out phase one. Developers have sold 138 lots and 16 are left, Russ told us. The land used to be a dairy farm. Now neighbors are worried about the traffic the development will bring to Butler Bridge Road… More flu shots are coming your way. The Buncombe County Health Center will offer flu shots tomorrow for children six months to 18 years old. Cost is $25. Flu shots will be given at North Henderson High School tomorrow as well. Same cost, Russ said… Black Mountain held its 12th annual Pumpkinfest… The WNC Nature Center held its Howl-o-ween and had a costume contest… And people are starting to make holiday travel plans, Russ said.

Had to check out LOS site to see who the sports guy was tonight…
Interesting to note that their site says Mike Cuevas, at a previous station, was "M-F morning meteorologist…" Seems like an interesting place to abbreviate, but I assume they mean Monday through Friday…
