New retail space, condos near completion on Lexington, Rankin avenues

Loyal reader Kevin passes along the website of Rankin Press Lofts, which offers more detail on the ongoing renovation of buildings that straddle Lexington and Rankin avenues in downtown. It’s a major project to remake the space into new downtown retail and living space.

On the vision:

Rankin Press Lofts. A residential and retail community as unique as its location.

We are transforming a roughly 40,000 sf building into 13 lofts, 5 retail spaces and an expansion of the LAB (Lexington Avenue Brewery) for additional brewing capacity and an exciting new restaurant concept, which will be revealed soon. This extensive renovation project will also involve adding two floors to the top of part of the existing structure to create new residential lofts. Patios, roof decks, balonies and sunrooms are being added to the residential spaces.

For the last thirty years or so this stretch of Lexington Avenue has been closed off to the street and used for a private business. When our project is completed all of the street level facing both Lexington and Rankin will be reopened to the public with large attractive store fronts. We are pleased that the businesses surrounding us have expressed their excitement for our project. …

We welcome you to take a tour of our project here on our website. We will be adding updates and pictures as the project develops. We also welcome you to call with any questions or to schedule a personal tour of the space.

On the new retail space:

Anchored by the LAB, the retail spaces of Rankin Press Lofts will boast large storefronts.  With over 30 successful businesses already drawing people to Lexington Avenue, our newly renovated retail spaces will benefit from ample parking.
